About PET-JUR
The Tutorial Education Program of the PUC-Rio Law Department (PET-JUR) involves teaching, research, and extension activities developed by a group of 12 (twelve) scholarship students, guided by a tutor. The Program is funded by the Secretariat of Higher Education (SESu) of the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Research Theme:
"Material Foundations of Brazilian Constitutionalism"
The purpose of the collective research is to investigate the formation of the Brazilian constitution based on the economic, social, political, and cultural structures that determine institutional designs and social places.
Through a transdisciplinary investigation of the constituent processes and Brazilian constitutional orders, the aim is to foster the development of a more critical and comprehensive understanding of the Constitutional Charters and the disputes involved in the drafting, application, and interpretation of their norms.
The group works with essential texts for the formation of Brazilian political and constitutional thought, as well as literary works relevant to understanding the Brazilian ethos of the investigated period.
Selection Process
Admission to PET-JUR occurs through a public call for applications, via a rigorous academic selection. Selection campaigns and the announcement of vacancies are conducted periodically.
Latest Selection: March/April 2026
The application submission period for the formation of the current group took place between March 30 and April 26, 2026. Keep an eye out for new calls for applications on the Department's notice board.
