About the Department

Established in 1941, the Undergraduate Program of the PUC-Rio Law Department graduates professionals with solid academic and professional training.

Grounded in humanistic and interdisciplinary theoretical knowledge, research capacity, and effective legal practice, the PUC-Rio Undergraduate Law Program features a faculty composed of professors from diverse areas of professional legal practice. They teach courses covering all major branches of Law, emphasizing litigation, corporate law, state and society, and criminal law.

With an academic staff comprised of masters and doctors, the faculty of the PUC-Rio Undergraduate Law Program participates in research lines funded by CNPq. The scope of these is to develop scientific research by granting scientific initiation scholarships to undergraduate students (PIBIC). Furthermore, the Undergraduate Law Program features a Tutorial Education Program (PET-JUR) sponsored by CAPES and a Legal Practice Center (NPJ) composed of specialists who supervise the activities of student interns in providing practical legal assistance to underprivileged populations.

The PUC-Rio Law Program received the OAB RECOMMENDS SEAL (Selo OAB Recomenda) in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th editions of the Program.
